After their last run down the mountain, Sadi and the Miller brothers headed over to the main lodge to get a good spot outside to watch the boardercross finals. The crowd filled in pretty quickly, with everyone jockeying for space near the finish line at the bottom of the run. There were huge digital screens set up so that everyone could see the entire race from top to bottom.

Sadi spotted Erica and Mike on the other side of the roped off course and waved and smiled at them. She also saw Tiffany, who recognized her and waved. Sadi just glared at her.

There were four snowboarders left in the competition. Connor was the five time defending champion and the heavy favorite. Sadi’s husband Brad was also still in it. He was always coming close but had never actually won. He was coming off a fourth place finish the year before.

Connor was racing against a French Canadian named Pierre in one of the semi finals, while Brad was matched up against another experienced pro name Ron in the other semi final. Most people were expecting Connor and Ron to end up facing off in the final, as they had done the year before.

First up was Brad versus Ron. Everyone turned their attention to the big screens as the two lined up on the starting line at the top of the mountain. It was an incredibly close race, with Brad taking the lead at first, only to have Ron catch up on the next turn. They were neck and neck when they approached the last big jump, and they both nailed it.

Sadi felt her heart racing as she watched her husband compete. She was full of mixed emotions because she was so used to supporting him and cheering him on, but she was so pissed at him now that there was no way she could do that. She didn’t want him to lose, exactly. But she didn’t really want him to win, either.

On the final banked turn, Brad slid inside and edged past Ron. Technically, it was a beautiful move, and it was enough to carry him across the finish line first. The crowd was surprised, and there was a lot of cheering for Brad. Sadi looked across and saw Tiffany going wild yelling and clapping for Brad. Seeing that just turned her stomach, and she couldn’t bring herself to join the cheering. When Brad skated over towards her, she just glared at him and shook her head fiercely. No, she wasn’t going to let him off that easy.

Brad must have gotten the message, because he kept going past her and made his way over to Tiffany, who of course gave him a big hug. Sadi just shook her head and tried to ignore them.

Next up was Connor versus Pierre.

“Let’s go, Connor!”, Stevie yelled, while Jimmy whistled and clapped loudly, leading the cheers.

“Yeah, come on, Connor!” Sadi joined in, cheering loudly. Yeah, she was openly rooting for Connor, and she didn’t care if Brad noticed or not.
